CALL

Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) may be defined as the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning (Levy, 1997, p.1). CALL promotes learner autonomy because it is learner centered. It gives meaningful purpose for learning.  It contributes a comprehensive input. CALL can analyze sufficient level of stimulation (cognitively and affectively). It contributes multiple modalities (to support various learning styles and strategies). Also it provides learners high level of interaction (human-machine and human-human).

English teachers use some tools to develop students’ skills. The first tool is wiki. A wiki is a collaborative tool which enables students to contribute and adapt pages related materials. Wikis help students to exercise their class. Wikis are useful because it allows students to create and develop critical thinking skills. So, students can learn actively. In addition to that, by wikis, students can prompt feedback from peers and improve their ability to work in groups. Also, wikis are controlled by teachers. The other tool is blogs. A blog is an online journal. Blogs create a social interaction between teachers and the students which help the students to become comfortable in their learning environment. This helps students create better writing skills and encourages students to collaborate about related topics.
